David W. Busick of Liberty pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Gary A. Fenner to robbing the Platte Valley Bank in Dearborn, according to Matt J. Whitworth, acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

The charge stemmed from a Feb. 25 federal indictment.

Busick, 26, admitted that he stole $9,676 from Platte Valley Bank on Jan. 22, 2008, according to a press release. Unnamed accomplices drove Busick to the bank.

Busick admitted that he entered the bank, approached the teller and asked the teller to put all the big bills in the bag he carried.

Busick told the teller, “No jokes and no games, hurry up.” After the teller complied, Busick exited the bank and jumped into the trunk of his accomplice’s car. Later, they split the money, according to Whitworth’s office.

Under federal statutes, Busick could face up to 20 years in federal prison without parole, plus a fine of up to $250,000 and an order of restitution.

After the completion of a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office, a sentencing hearing will be scheduled.
