Kansas and Missouri Barder War scholar and author Donald Gilmore will sign his latest book starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, during the upcoming black powder shoot at the Jesse James Farm and Museum in Kearney.

Gilmore’s new book, “Riding Vengeance with the James Gang,” is a novel that chronicles guerrilla fighters, according to a news release from Pelican Publishing Co., the book’s publisher.

While Gilmore autographs his latest work, marksmen will shoot it out for bragging rights and prizes from 9 a.m. to high noon.

The black powder shoot, hosted by the Friends of the James Farm, a private support organization, is a fundraiser for the group, which supports the historic site.

Shoot out registration is required. For more information about the contest, participants should contact Bryan Ivlow at 816-320-3426.
