Eagles to play first game at home against Oak Park

It is now set. Liberty North’s first football game ever will be at home on Aug. 27 and its opponent will be Oak Park High.

The 2010 Suburban Confererence football schedules have been released and for Liberty fans who don’t like traveling, there will be a home football game to attend each week.

Liberty High and Liberty North will both use William Jewell College’s Greene Stadium for their home games. When Liberty High is at home, Liberty North will be on the road and vice versa.

Liberty North’s schedule includes non-conference games against Kansas City Central (Class 3), William Chrisman (Class 5) and Raytown (Class 5).

The Eagles will play two of their three Class 4 District 15 games at home. They play host to Excelsior Springs (Oct. 15) and Smithville (Oct. 22) and then travel to play Class 4 defending state champion Kearney (Thursday, Oct. 28).

Liberty gets Rockhurst back on its regular season schedule after a two-year absence. The Blue Jays will play at Rockhurst on Sept. 17. The Blue Jays’ other non-conference games are: at Park Hill to open the season (Aug. 27), at home against North Kansas City (Sept. 3) and at home against St. Joseph Central (Oct. 8).

Liberty plays two of its three district games on the road: at Columbia Rock Bridge (Oct. 15) and at Blue Springs (Oct. 22). The Blue Jays finish the regular season at home against Blue Springs South (Oct. 29).
